Camping
We Keep the "Outing" in Scouting!
Troop 144 emphasizes and exemplifies the importance of the outdoor program within the Scouting program. We work on teambuilding, advancement, and skills during each campout or activity.
Troop 144 typically plans a camping trip or activity every month, usually the third weekend (second weekend of holiday months like November). Camping will either be Friday evening through Sunday afternoon or Saturday morning through Sunday afternoon. Transportation is provided via the Scout bus or by parent and leader volunteers. Asterisks indicate the four required activities, and a Scout must obtain an exemption from the Scoutmaster if he cannot attend.
Examples of past trips include:
January – Skiing (one day)
February – Cold weather camping
*March – Cross-over
April – Hiking/camping
May – Canoeing/camping
June – Tubing or spelunking/camping
*July – Summer camp
September – Tubing or Biking/camping
*October – Camporee
November – Beach/camping
*December – Arrow of Light activity
Most camping trips cost around $30 which includes all food, campground, and transportation costs. RSVPs and trip fees are typically due 10-14 days before each trip.
